Mission Statement

With the proliferation of hospice programs in communities across the nation, the hospice concept of caring has a well-deserved reputation for compassionate services to the terminally ill. The hospice concept of care has been part of the healthcare continuum for over 20 years. At the foundation of hospice care are interdisciplinary teams of skilled professionals and trained volunteers that provide physical, emotional and spiritual comfort to persons with life-threatening illness. Whenever possible, hospice care is provided at home, but it can also be available in inpatient settings such as long-term care facilities. Key to the hospice philosophy is the support of the patient's family in giving care and in the grieving that continues after death. The values and choices of the patient are respected.

Description

St. Anthony's Hospice is an organization providing high quality life care for the terminally ill and their families, generally for the last six months of life. Our goal is to maximize the quality of life for patients and their families. Our expert team is comprised of nurses, home care aids, social workers, chaplains, and medical directors. We are a 501(C)3 non-profit, non-religiously owned organization that takes all terminally ill patients, regardless of age, disease, sexual orientation, religion, or ability to pay. We provide family bereavement (grief counseling) services stretching for 15 months after the loss of a loved one. Additionally, we provide highly trained counselors to area school systems at no charge for children who are experiencing problems and who have suffered a non-Hospice related family loss. We also provide an annual Kid's Camp for children aged 3 to 12, and a "Footprints" camp for 13 to 18 year olds, who have recently suffered a loss of a family loved one. Truly, we touch thousands of area lives by implementing proven effective programs throughout western Kentucky in the counties of Henderson, Union and Webster
