Mission Statement
Storehouse West is a non-profit, community-based, volunteer-staffed 501(c)(3) emergency food agency serving the residents of Sandoval County, providing them with food and hygiene items, gently-used clothing for their children, financial assistance for utilities, rent, and mortgage.
Description
Storehouse West endeavors to provide low-income residents of Sandoval County (and those with emergency situations) with enough food to feed their families for one week. This includes milk, bread, chicken, hamburger, eggs, and non-perishables. plus toilet tissue and bar soap. The Executive Director, Assistant to the Director and the Bookkeeper are all part-time paid employees. The remainder of the staff are volunteers. When funding is available, help is provided for utilities, rent, mortgage, and Waste Management (in Rio Rancho). Our Kids Clothes Closet provides clients' children (thru high school) with gently-used clothing several times per year, plus new underwear and socks. We have assisted the Rio Rancho Public School with the distribution of dress code clothing for several years, administering the paperwork and the distribution of shirts. Special Thanksgiving baskets are given to clients in November. Between 75 and 100 families and senior citizens are adopted by community organizations, churches, and residents, who provide gifts and toys for Christmas. We work with local agencies to coordinate services for our clients.
