Mission Statement

Do you have an interest in bettering the lives of homeless youth in Washington County? Are you looking for a way to give back to the most vulnerable citizens in your community without a financial obligation? Boys and Girls Aid is seeking motivated individuals to volunteer at Safe Place, our runaway and homeless youth shelter in Hillsboro, Or. Safe Place is open 24 hours a day providing emergency shelter and drop in services including case management, hygiene supplies, showers, laundry, and meals to youth ages 12-19 who are, or may be at risk of becoming, homeless in Washington County. There are nearly 200 youth living on the streets each night in Washington County, and Safe Place serves over 100 of them every year. Interested volunteers should contact Drew Williamson at (503)542-2712 or by email at dwilliamson@boysandgirlsaid.org.

Description

Boys & Girls Aid’s core purpose is to build connections for a lifetime to improve the well-being of children. We work to strengthen the roles of adults in the lives of children, provide safe, stable living environments, and advocate for the needs of Oregon’s most vulnerable children. The Safe Place for Youth shelter supports this endeavor in Washington County. The purpose of the Safe Place shelter is to give youth, families and the community a safe shelter option where youth can get off the street, connect with positive adults, transition to stable housing, and reduce their likelihood of entering the adult homeless system.
