Mission Statement

FamiliesROC is a no pressure celebration of life, family, and friends. We help to raise funds for ovarian cancer by bringing families and friends togehter to run in local and national races. We race for awarenss and ultimately a cure of thei killer. Together we can help eradicate this disease!

WHO WE ARE: FamiliesROC is a 501c(3) non-profit organization formed in April 2005 dedicated to raising awareness of Ovarian Cancer and supporting women and their families as they deal with the disease. This organization was conceived by the family of Brenda Jorgensen as she wages her own personal war against the disease. WHAT WE DO: FamiliesROC urges people to take on the challenge of walking/running and raising money for Ovarian Cancer awareness and research while achieving new fitness goals. This organization recruits people to run races from 5K's to the marathon. We provide training plans, advice, and a supportive community where families can put their resolve to the test. The courage and determination it takes to battle Ovarian Cancer is the inspiration for family members testing themselves and supporting each other. WHY WE DO IT: Research shows that women who set fitness goals and seek support in attaining these goals deal better with the debilitation effects of cancer treatment. Mothers are the very center of the family; they are also the victims of this under-researched disease. FamiliesROC is driven to bring families together to rally around mom and celebrate life, love, and the human spirit! The ultimate goal of FamiliesROC is to prove that with the support of families, women can fight back and attain new fitness goals along the way! HOW WE DONATE: FamiliesROC has 501c(3) status with the IRS. We are dedicated to research, a minimum of %50 of all donations received go to research that is taking places at The Siteman Center for Advanced Medicine in association with Washington University.
