Mission Statement

What is 1Sky?
1Sky is a collaborative new national campaign in the United States catalyzing a society-wide movement in
support of bold federal action to tackle global warming. The 1Sky policy platform represents the scientific
bottom line - the solutions we must implement immediately to stabilize our climate while delivering green
economic growth and energy security to our country.
What is the 1Sky policy platform?
The 1Sky policy platform is based around three simple and direct asks:
 5 million new green jobs through strategic investments in energy efficiency and renewable energy;
 At least 80% carbon emissions reductions below 1990 levels by 2050;
 A moratorium on new coal-fired power plants that emit global warming pollution.

Our emissions reduction targets are based on the scientific consensus regarding what is necessary to stabilize
our climate. For more details on our policy platform, please see http://www.1sky.org/about/1sky-solutions.

What makes 1Sky unique?
1Sky is not a new organization or coalition - as a campaign we are uniting dozens of organizations across the
country in support of the 1Sky Solutions. We are working with diverse constituencies beyond the
environmental movement, including the faith, health, business, labor, youth, social justice, humanitarian aid,
scientific and economic communities, to build the political power we need to pass bold federal climate policy.

Description

The climate crisis we find ourselves in leaves no time for indecision. The science is clear. The time for bold climate action is NOW. We have a tiny window of opportunity to change America's course, and here at 1Sky, we're ready to mobilize a broad base of support across all sectors and communities in this country. We're not stopping until we see the change in federal policy we need, and to win this fight, everyone needs to get involved.
As a battleground state, Wisconsin poses a unique opportunity to influence the presidential candidates to take strong stances on global warming, which will set the stage to pass the bold federal climate legislation that science and equity demand. We will work to demand green jobs, start a moratorium on new coal plants, invest in renewable energy and start on the track to reduce our emissions 80% by 2050.
