Mission Statement

The Saginaw Valley Naval Ship Museum exists to preserve and promote the USS Edson by serving as a unique visitor attraction, an active educational facility, and a historical memorial to those who have protected our nation's freedom and independence.

Description

We are home to the USS Edson DD-946. This decommissioned Forrest-Sherman Class Destroyer served our country from 1958 until 1988 and was one of the most active ships during the Vietnam War. Guests are invited to tour the ship while enjoying historic naval displays throughout. We offer self guided-tour from March through December. We also offer group tours, educational experiences for schools and scout groups, and spaces to rent for group events. Saginaw Valley Naval Ship Museum (SVNSM) operates as a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization.
