Mission Statement

The mission of the Central Ohio Mounted Search Unit is to provide well qualified equestrian and/or walking teams to assist various agencies in incident response or other duties as needed. We are affiliated with the Licking County Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management.

Description

The Central Ohio Mounted Search Unit consists of 26 members most of whom are mounted searchers. We have been in existence since 2004. Each member provides his/her own horse, which must be at least 5 years of age and well mannered, along with the means to transport the horse. We are all trained in First Aid, CPR, Incident Command Operations, Orienteering, and Tracking. We have bi-monthly business meetings and on the off months we have training sessions. We also coordinate at least two simulations per year. We do community out reach to groups who are intersested in learning more about our organization. We have been a part of several searches both live and recovery.
