Description

Chinsegut Nature Center is located within the Chinsegut Wildlife Environmental Area operated thorugh the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. Chinsegut WEA is comprised of over 800 acres of pine upland sandhills, a wetland prairie, mixed harwood hammocks and a cypress swamp.

Hiking trails are available for foot traffic for wildlife viewing and outdoor recreation. A wildlife viewing blind looking over the wetland prarie is a great feature for birders. Annual fall and spring migrations brings many songbirds to Chinsegut.

Chinsegut Nature Center holds 3 annual festivals and one annual race fundraiser encouraging outdoor recreation and environmental conservation education. Public programs held thorugh out the year deliver conservation themed outdoor activities that are free to the public. Current schedules are avaliable on our website. School programs deliver K - 12 programs focusing on animals, plants and their interactions in Florida ecosystems.

Chinsegut Nature Center is open 8 am - 2 pm every Friday and Saturday. Visitors are able to ask wildlife questions, peruse the snake exhibits, view the habitat diarama or check out the birds at the feeders thorugh our viewing windows.
