The mission of EWB is to partner with developing communities to improve their quality of life through the implementation of environmentally sustainable, equitable, and economical engineering projects. In the process of working to advance developing communities, EWB promotes the development of globally aware and internationally responsible engineers, students, and professionals.
EWB-USA is a non-profit 501(c)(3) tax exempt corporation. Activities include the design and construction of basic infrastructure that developing communities can own and operate without external assistance, and empowering such communities by enhancing local, technical, managerial, and entrepreneurial skills. These projects are initiated by, and completed with, contributions from the host community working with our project teams.
Being involved with Engineers Without Borders at the Sacramento Professional Chapter is a unique and rewarding experience. The people are a pleasure to work with and offer diverse backgrounds and areas of expertise. There are several fantastic projects going on right now, including a newly awarded project in South Africa. There is opportunity within the organization to be involved on a variety of fronts (engineering and non-engineering related). I highly recommend reaching out to the chapter to get more information. You are sure to receive a friendly response!
