Description

Areas of our organization include the Lowcountry HUB Business Academy, which serves to enhance opportunities for Historically Underutilized Businesses; the Sustainability Institute, whose goal is to build the capacity of South Carolina communities, preserve our state's precious natural resources, and enable every person to have a healthy, comfortable and energy-efficient home; the Michaux Conservancy focuses on environmental preservation and restoration and educating the community on related issues; and the Lowcountry Civic Justice Corps trains inmates from the SC Department of Corrections in Green building and offers courses in financial literacy, computer literacy and GED preparation; all with the added support of a mentor. The LCJC program also offers inmates the unique opportunity to become AmeriCorps members, which instills the values of service and accountability. Once Corps members complete the program they receive an education award.
