Here's a sample of our volunteer opportunities:VIEW AS
Pajama Program is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 2001 that believes that every child, no matter their circumstances, has the inherent right to a loving good night, complete with the comforting bedtime ritual of changing into new, clean pajamas and enjoying an enchanting story. Pajama Program offers at-risk children the unconditional, magical gifts of pajamas and books so that they can enjoy the greatest benefit of a loving bedtime and peaceful good night: a fulfilling good day. After all, good nights are good days.
Pajama Program is an incredible outlet for people with time and passion to make a positive impact on the lives of the children we serve - those without any idea what a loving bedtime is like or what it can lead to. By helping us with one of the many well-run efforts we have underway, volunteers support and validate these children in their greatest time of need.
We invite volunteers (18 or older) from a range of diverse backgrounds and ethnicities, to share their love of reading with the children we serve in NYC. Our Reading Parties begin with circle time introductions and then we begin reading in pairs (1 child to 1 adult) or small groups. During the Reading Party, the children receive a snack, a new book of their choice, and a new pair of pajamas. The age range of the children is from 4-12 years old. Reading Parties last about an hour and run throughout the year.
