Our mission is to interpret the cultural and natural history of Champoeg State Heritage Area. We accomplish this by teaching and sharing the story of this special place. We work to connect visitors to Champoeg’s cultural and natural landscape by providing services, and organizational assistance to create and present public programming. We organize living history events, creates and administers education programs, produces park guides, and demonstrates pioneer ways of life, skills and crafts.
Champoeg State Heritage Area is a level 5 ISL (Interpretive Service Level) state park, and is expected to provide a high level of quality interpretive programming. Interpretive programming is done by all three groups associated with the park: Oregon State Parks (OPRD), the Friends of Historic Champoeg (FHC), and the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR).
