Mission Statement
THE TRUANCY PREVENTION PROGRAM The Montgomery County State's Attorney's Office Truancy Prevention Program is an early intervention program with the mission to improve attendance of middle school children in Montgomery County Public schools by discovering the root causes of truancy and assisting students and their families with issues that impact attendance. The program confronts school absenteeism by addressing academic, school, personal, and family-related factors. The Truancy Prevention Program is a voluntary and supportive program designed to keep children in school and families out of court.
Description
The Montgomery County State’s Attorney’s Office serves the public interest through fair and honest administration of justice by exercising responsibilities to: prosecute criminal violations in Montgomery County; educate the public on criminal-justice issues; train lawyers for future service; address inequality and promote fairness in the criminal justice system; ensure access to the criminal justice system; promote professional relations with judges and attorneys; and further the efficient use of criminal-justice resources. The Truancy Prevention Program is an undertaking of the State's Attorney's Office Community Outreach Unit, to keep children in school and out of court.
