Mission Statement

Orfficially the Stanwood Lions Foundation dba the Stanwood Lions Club, chartered in 1941 and one of several thousand clubs around the world. we were originally chartered to serve our local community, but Helen Keller addressed our international convention in 1925 and asked the Lions to be her knights of the blind in promoting sight and hearing conservation and to provide direct assistance to the blind and deaf. We, and other Lions Clubs, have been working hard to do that ever since.

Description

We have 87 members currently and always eager tor new members. We meet 1st and 3rd Wednesdays at 7:00 pm at the Sons of Norway Hall in Stanwood. we raise money with an American Flag program for businesses in Stanwood, we operate a Bingo game at our community fair, and we conduct an annual Lutefisk Dinner at our High School, an annual actvitity since 1947. We spend our raised charity funds on local needs such as the Food Bank, our two area senior centers, and our Resource Center which helps families in need in many areas. We help financially need persons with eyeglasses and hearings aids, sometimes assisting in surgeries, and our major event is screening all of the State mandated children in our School District, over 3,000 kids, every year. We careully divide our funds to insure that 100% of our charity funds actually go to charity needs. We pay for our own meals, vests, and dues separately without conflict with our charity funds. We would be honored to have any adults join us - and we really do need to increase our ladies. We have only one lady member at this time!
