Mission Statement
Legal Aid of Western Ohio, Inc. (LAWO) is a non-profit regional law firm that provides high quality legal assistance in civil matters to help eligible low-income individuals and groups in western Ohio achieve self reliance, and equal justice and economic opportunity.
Description
Through LAWO’s Mobile Benefit Bank Program, clients in urban and rural communities receive thorough, personalized attention for gaining access to public benefits and legal services. The Mobile Benefit Bank operates in the greater Lucas County area, helping low and moderate income individuals and families access and apply for public benefits and credit programs using The Ohio Benefit Bank’s online system. Applicants are identified and screened for benefit eligibility primarily through outreach and screening events conducted at a wide variety of community access points. Sites are selected and scheduled both proactively by project staff and reactively by site request. Events are held at community locations and during times determined to be convenient to those most in need of access to benefits.
