Mission Statement

Northwest Neighborhood Federation's mission is to improve the quality of life of residents on Chicago's Northwest Side. We do this by building powerful campaigns that involve large numbers of neighbors to identify problems, educate each other on the possibilities to resolve the most critical issues of common concern, residents and local leadership have become empowered and thereby assumed a greater role in the civic life of the neighborhood.

Description

Northwest Neighborhood Federation is a non-profit 501c (3), multi-issue grassroots community organization. Originally a coalition of eight "civic" organizations formed in 1979, the Northwest Neighborhood Federation has more recently been moving in the direction of being an institution-based organization whose affiliates include churches, social service agencies, and business associations. The goal of networking and mobilizing residents to address challenges to the well being of our community, however, remains the same.

The Northwest Neighborhood Federation service area is represented by over 32,000 families who live in the area spanning from Narragansett (West) to Kimball (East) and from Armitage (South) to Irving Park (North) on Chicago's Northwest Side.

Together, we are dedicated to developing local leadership and to improving the quality of life for residents on Chicago's Northwest side. By local residents addressing issues facing their community, we believe that leadership will become empowered and thereby assume a greater role in the civic life of their neighborhood.
