Mission Statement
Claydon House is under the care of The National Trust, a charity which has 3.7 million members and 61,000 volunteers. We protect over 350 historic houses, gardens and ancient monuments. But it doesn’t stop there. We also look after forests, woods, fens, beaches, farmland, downs, moorland, islands, archaeological remains, castles, nature reserves, villages - for ever, for everyone.
Description
Claydon House is an unexpected jewel nestled within peaceful parkland and beautiful gardens. A rich treasure trove with a fascinating history, just waiting to be explored. The house today stands as a shadow of its noble owners’ ambitions. A grand country house that never quite was. Within its walls, spectacular spaces delight and surprise. Elaborate decoration, carvings and chinoiserie take you on a journey through eighteenth century style. Claydon was created under the ethos that money was no object, only the finest would do... but then the money ran out.
