Mission Statement

The Montana Cancer Consortium is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to bring state-of-the-art cancer treatment and prevention to Montana and Northern Wyoming through clinical trials sponsored by the National Cancer Institute.

Description

The Community Clinical Oncology Program (CCOP) was instituted by the NCI to create a nationwide network for community physicians to enter patients on NCI clinical trials. The Montana Cancer Consortium is one of the 51 CCOPs and 11 minority based CCOPs across the country providing access to cancer clinical trials in community-based hospitals. Clinical trials are research studies conducted with people who volunteer to take part. Each study answers scientific questions and tries to find better ways to prevent, screen for, diagnose, or treat a disease. People who take part in cancer clinical trials have an opportunity to contribute to knowledge of and progress against cancer. They also receive up-to-date care from experts.
