The mission of the Girls on the Run program is to educate and prepare girls for a lifetime of self-respect and healthy living. We are not only trying to teach girls to be healthy and self-confident now, but we are giving them the tools to be healthy for their whole lives. Specifically, the goals of Girls on the Run are as follows: -Respect themselves and others. -Be self-confident. -Manage their emotions and maintain positive attitudes. -Listen, cooperate, and work as a team. -Evaluate the effects and consequences of making right and wrong choices. -Avoid drugs, alcohol, and other high-risk behaviors. -Contribute and give back to the community. -Eat nutritiously. -Set a goal, prepare for it, and complete it (in our case, a 5K race). -Love exercise!
