San Antonio Alternative Housing Corporation’s (SAAHC) mission is to provide decent rental and ownership housing that is affordable to low and moderate income people in Texas; to provide housing education and ownership counseling through a community home ownership association; and to promote and create business development, job training, health and social services.
The SAAHC Resident Service Program operates from various multi-family apartments owned by San Antonio Alternative Housing Corporation in San Antonio and Austin, TX. By providing education, recreation and social services to low-income families, the Resident Service Program strives to strengthen the personal growth and development of at-risk youth and their families. This is accomplished through a comprehensive continuum of services, which includes a needs assessment, leisure education, recreational programming and social services.
The community learning centers provide a variety of children and family services through various programs and locations including:
- Educational Programs: Homework help and tutoring assistance for youths. Adult and family informational programs are scheduled throughout the year. - Recreational Programs: Structured enrichment activities, arts & crafts. - Computer Lab: Internet access, educational games, and tutoring programs - Information & Referral: Crisis intervention and social services.
