Volunteers are needed at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana to help "Make Every Moment Count" for patients and families. In this role, a volunteer will provide companionship to patients and their families who are coping with advanced illnesses. Companionship, socialization and emotional support can be provided to patients and their families through regular visits. Visiting patients or just sitting with someone who may not like to be left alone are some of the things that Companions volunteers do. A visit may consist of purely social activities or could involve light meal preparation, shopping, running errands, and light housekeeping chores if requested by the family. It is not the responsibility of companions to provide personal care or administer medication. Sitter Duties - Scheduled visit with Patient for family member to go run errands, attend appointments, or to just have a break.
