Mission Statement

To provide high quality programming to youth participants with the goal of fostering self esteem and leadership skills through athletic and academic achievement. At ADSL, we believe that the resources needed to achieve good health and academic success are rights belonging to all, regardless of financial means. We believe that the services we offer to the youth and families of Dorchester are instrumental to creating a well-rounded, happy community of individuals.

Description

All Dorchester Sports League’s programming successfully addresses several major community needs. ADSL’s focus on sports, fitness, nutrition and regular physical activity encourages healthy habits and choices for our participants and their families, preventing childhood obesity. Additionally, we provide at-risk youth an alternative to gangs and other risky behaviors where they can excel in sports, build self esteem, and engage with positive role models and mentors. Today, 35% of the population in Dorchester lives below the poverty line and several Dorchester neighborhoods are considered to be gang "hotspots" by the Boston Police. We hope to turn this trend around and offer alternatives to engaging in gang activity and other destructive behaviors.
