Mission Statement

The mission of the Colorado State Forest Service (CSFS) is to achieve stewardship of Colorado’s diverse forest environments for the benefit of present and future generations. We are a service and outreach agency of the Warner College of Natural Resources at Colorado State University. Project Learning Tree's (PLT) mission is to advance environmental literacy and promote stewardship through excellence in environmental education, professional development, and curriculum resources that use trees and forests as windows on the world. PLT is committed to creating a future where the next generation values the natural world and has the knowledge and skills necessary to make informed decisions and take responsible actions to sustain forests and the broader environment.

Description

CSFS is the host agency for Project Learning Tree in Colorado, delivering professional development in environmental education to preschool through high hchool formal and nonformal educators who are then able to provide their students with knowledge about and appreciation for our complex environment.

We do this through a family of volunteer facilitators throughout the state who conduct workshop for educators. The program is coordinated from our office in Golden, where we manage data, create materials, market our materials and network with other national, state and local natural resource agencies and education institutions and individuals.
