New volunteer trainings offered virtually in August and September 2024! Hospice volunteers provide caring support to individuals and families facing end of life. In Hospice, our goal is to help patients live their lives as fully as possible until the end of their lives. Volunteers offer support by providing companionship, giving breaks to caregivers, capturing life stories, and helping with errands. People who are drawn to this type of volunteer work have often spent time with people who have severe chronic illnesses, or have interest in helping others during difficult times. This support is truly a gift for individuals and their families at a very intimate time in their lives. We're looking for volunteers who are open to this calling and have the compassionate presence to help our hospice families. Volunteer Testimonials: "The people we meet in hospice have a long-lasting effect on our lives. At the same time, our being present for patients and families undoubtedly has a far-reaching ripple effect on them as well." "Being able to share these times of great transition when patients are making the shift from hoping for a cure to having to accept a terminal illness is a sacred time." Volunteers must complete a screening and training program prior to performing services. Volunteers do not need to be Kaiser Permanente members.
