Mission Statement
The Arts Council of Fairfax County is the voice of the arts, dedicated to fostering dynamic and diverse local arts, ensuring that arts thrive by providing vision, leadership, capacity building services, advocacy, funding, education, and information.
Description
The Arts Council is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization incorporated in 1964 as Fairfax County’s designated local arts agency and is funded in part by Fairfax County, corporations, foundations, individuals, the Virginia Commission for the Arts, and the National Endowment for the Arts.
The Arts Council distributes over $550,000 annually in County, public, and private funds through competitive grants and awards to arts organizations and artists of all disciplines; conducts arts and culture research and advocacy efforts on behalf of the arts; provides capacity building resources to the arts community; and offers arts information resources to the general public.
