Mission Statement

CCAC's mission is to strengthen the critical link between participation in the cultural arts and successful, healthy children, adults and communities. CCAC will promote education, arts, and urban quality of life, as well as historic preservation and sustainability among local arts organizations. Serving residents of all ages, socioeconomic capacities and ethnic backgrounds in Uptown and surrounding communities, CCAC will offer arts and cultural classes, after school arts programming, and art exhibits, as well as venues for community theatre, dance groups and others needing performance space. Through its presence and programming, CCAC will nurture the interests of youth who will become future Cincinnati community leaders, promoting a healthy and vibrant community, and the sustainability of Cincinnati's rich arts and cultural heritage.

Description

The 9-acre community arts and learning center campus consisting of the Clifton Cultural Arts Center, the new Fairview-Clifton German Language School, and the Clifton Recreation Center is a groundbreaking initiative with the potential to serve as regional and national model. CCAC will mobilize arts organizations and artists by providing centrally located, accessible space to those whose programming and outreach are limited by their current locations and/or spaces. CCAC is the largest center of its kind in the region and, consequently, will offer a menu of arts programs, classes, performances, resident organizations (office space and dedicated performance space) unmatched by any other facility. As a result, CCAC will draw well beyond its local neighborhood, from communities throughout the Greater Cincinnati metropolitan region. CCAC will attract participants of all ages and socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds from the Uptown area, where the population (81,430 people, and 19,000 children) is 54% African American; 3% Asian; 40% Caucasian; 1% Hispanic; and 2% multi/other races. 30% of families are below the poverty level. Programming will be designed for a broad range of ages, from toddlers to senior citizens, with a wide diversity of backgrounds and experiences.
