Mission Statement
The Center for Sierra Nevada Conservation is a grassroots environmental organization dedicated to the protection of ecosystem values and the long-term sustainability of our natural resources for future generations.
Description
The Center for Sierra Nevada Conservation has been a tireless voice for John Muir’s "Range of Light" for 28 years, working f or sound management of our public lands and enlightened government land use policies. The CSNC Board of Directors and our members have worked countless hours to make sure land managers and politicians do not overlook environmental values when making land use decisions.
Our interests and work include recreation, forestry practices, meadow restoration, removal of invasive plants and land use issues. A key goal is the right-sizing of the National Forest road system. When the Forest Service or County proposes a project that threatens wildlife or wildlife habitat, we speak up for the voiceless. When projects threaten meadows, mountain streams and aquatic habitat, we advocate for protecting water and fish. When our communities are faced with incompatible land use projects, we organize to protect our rural lifestyle.
