Mission Statement

The Snowy Plover Docent Program (SPDP) is dedicated to educating beach users about the Western Snowy Plover and increasing the level of awareness of beach users and community members.

Description

The main goals of SPDP are as follows:

1) To protect and preserve the habitat of the Western Snowy Plover on Sands Beach at Coal Oil Point Reserve.

2) To communicate information about the natural history and conservation of the Snowy Plover, its habitat, and Coal Oil Point Reserve.

3) To educate visitors of the importance of following regulations which have been implemented to protect the plovers, their habitat, and Coal Oil Point Reserve.

4) To facilitate a positive connection between members of the public and Coal Oil Point Reserve.
