Mission Statement

Community Health Councils' mission is to improve health and increase access to quality healthcare for uninsured, under-resourced, and under-served populations.

Description

Since 1992, Community Health Councils has been at the forefront of advocacy to increase access to quality healthcare through active public participation and accountability. CHC now represents a dynamic network of coalitions composed of neighborhood leaders, consumer advocates, healthcare, educational and faith-based organizations serving communities that lack the benefit of influence and privilege in Los Angeles, across California and the US. Our advocacy is ground by the coalitions and community initiatives that form the basis of our work.

The three areas that define our programs are:

  • Access & Quality of Healthcare to reduce disparities in healthcare, improve healthcare delivery, and preserve the safety net
  • Community Health & Education to improve access to quality nutrition and physical activity by building and transforming community assets
  • Expansion of Healthcare Coverage to expand access and improve outreach and utilization of publicly-sponsored healthcare programs.
