To promote Yiddish language and culture in New York. To nurture the community of Yiddish-speakers and encourage an intergenerational celebration of Yiddish.

Description

The Sholem Aleichem Cultural Center hosts monthly Yiddish lectures, roundtable discussions, films, concerts, performances and holiday celebrations. These events feature well-known speakers, artists and academics. In addition, there is a weekly Yiddish conversation class, run by the renowned Yiddish poet, Beyle Schaechter-Gottesman. These events are all conducted in Yiddish.
