Mission Statement

The mission of S.W.A.N is to be an organization supporting victims and survivors of domestic violence, providing victims and survivors with the necessary tools and education to become empowered and to positively change their lives through advocacy, safety, support and creating ways to build more awareness in the community through education about the Domestic Violence epidemic while maximizing the effectiveness of every dollar contributed.

Description

SWAN has many programs to support victims, such as "surviving abuse support groups", mentoring, advocates to help getting an order of protection, or to help fill out court papers to name a few. SWAN helps provide necessary tools to survivors through community resourcesand help with writing a proffessional resumes. SWAN builds more awareness and educates the community about domestic violence, by speaking to people throughout the community. We speak at such places like, hospitals,colleges,high schools,prisons, and buissness proffessionals. SWAN speaks at the Senat to help pass laws that will help victims also. There are other oppurtunities to speak at other locations, this is just some locations. SWAN also holds trainings for people to understand the issues of domestic violence.

SWAN is now starting a new program called Cottage of Grace that will be providing women a temporary home for shelter and to transition them back to safety. We are looking to open the home near the end of Oct.
