The Lisa Libraries' mission is to donate new children's books to organizations in the U.S. working directly with young people in under-served areas. Founded in 1991, The Lisa Libraries has since donated over two million dollars worth of books to needy children.
Some of the libraries established by The Lisa Libraries have been at day-care centers, food banks, prison visiting areas for children of incarcerated parents, foster-care agencies, and after-school programs. The Lisa Libraries supplements under-filled shelves as well as provides books directly to children who may never have owned a book before. In 2010 The Lisa Libraries donated over 25,000 new children's books.
