Mission Statement

Mission: Empowering women and children experiencing homelessness to rebuild their lives by providing transitional housing, support, and hope.

Description

Chattanooga Room in the Inn (CRITI) offers a six-month residential program for women and children experiencing homelessness. Women and children coming into our program may stay at our facility, free of charge, for up to six months while they rebuild their lives in five major focus areas:

Health, Housing, Finances, Family, and Career.

At CRITI, we are committed to empowering women and their children through essential support services aimed at fostering stability and independence. Our offerings include transitional housing, daily meals prepared by dedicated volunteers, life skills training, parenting classes, and mentoring. Additionally, we assist clients in locating affordable, permanent housing and provide tailored case management services. Through these initiatives, we aim to create sustainable opportunities for a successful future.

I have been hanging out with the kids at Room in the Inn and have been having a blast! After I make sure their homework is done, the kids will read to me or we'll play hide and go seek or we'll paint... The reason this is so awesome to me is the fact that these kids were homeless before they came here- they didn't have a swing to be pushed on, or water colors to paint flowers with. They were worried about where their next meal might be coming from, not doing the things that kdis should do. The families stay at Room in the Inn for 3-9 months while they get their feet back under them. For that small amount of time, I do whatever I can to help these kids be kids. There are many other opportunities to serve besides helping the kids. Meals can be cooked, life skills classes need to be taught, devotionals can be administered. I believe that whatever you talent, you can find someway to help Room in the Inn.
