Mission Statement

The mission of A Shot For Life is to harness the energy and goodwill of athletes through their given sport to raise money for Cancer Research. ASFL was started in 2011 as one athlete shooting basketballs for 24 straight hours at a high school in Massachusetts. We are committed to the fight against cancer and aspire to be the leading sports-related fund raising organization dedicated to supporting Cancer Research. Cancer touches all of us in one way or another, funding research hospitals and research organizations will go a long way to giving many people a better chance at life. Cancer does not discriminate in who it afflicts; sports unify young athletes of all races, religions and socio-economic backgrounds. A Shot For Life unites diverse communities to defeat a common enemy in cancer. A Shot For Life focuses on motivating all people to be an active participant in the fight against cancer rather than a bystander.

Description

A Shot For Life uses a variety of different basketball events to raise money for brain cancer research. One of our hallmark events, the A Shot For Life Challenge, is an elite high school showcase for the best players in Massachusetts. The 2015 A Shot For Life Challenge raised $40,000. Our next big event will be called the SnowBall Classic and it will take place on January 16th. The concept is that it will be a 24 hour game open to players of all ages and skill levels.
