Mission Statement

Sustainable Community Gardens ' mission is to create local sustainable agriculture and integrated educational projects that empower youth and adults to participate in locally produced food systems, while encouraging healthy living, nurturing the environment, and growing a strong and independent community.

Description

SCG currently manages two projects:

The Charles Street Gardens is a 1-acre community garden in Sunnyvale's civic center, built in 2006 with 92 families participating and much of the community enjoying the ambiance.

Full Circle Farm is an 11 acre educational, sustainable farm behind Peterson Middle School in Sunnyvale.

Though this was the first time I have ever volunteered at a farm, my experience was great! They are willing teach teach you different farming methods if you ask them, more specifically, Dan. He was amazing! Also, they allow you to take some freshly picked produce home with you after your shift. It's a win-win!
