Advocating for people with mental developmental disabilities and their families. Providing a program through which individuals with developmental disabilities may learn life skills, community involvement and self-advocacy; make friends, and and experience Greater Phoenix events and activities.
Description
The Arc of Tempe is a non-profit organization advocating for and serving individuals with developmental disabilities and their families in the Tempe area since 1965.
The Arc of Tempe Recreational program provides a social outlet for adults with developmental disabilities, as well as providing education in life skills and community living. In addition, the recreation program is home to Tempe Arc Ambassadors, a group focused on self-advocacy and advocacy for others.
The Arc of Tempe Thrift Shop is the major support for The Arc of Tempe Recreation Program. The Thrift Shop has been a part of the Tempe community for 27 years, and continues to be a great way to live the recycle lifestyle while benefitting a local organization - The Arc of Tempe.
