Mission Statement

MathAction is a nonprofit research and development group with a bold mission: to empower the next generation to use math as a tool to analyze - and seek solutions for - the most pressing global issues of our time. By blending the precision of mathematics with the ambiguities of global and social issues, students learn to use mathematics in context: to investigate real issues, communicate ideas and inform their actions.

Description

MathAction has two main strategies to achieve its mission: (1) teach teachers our approach using classroom testing interdisciplinary math projects and (2) reach middle school students directly through after school and summer programs.

MathAction has also developed full Common Core-aligned scope and sequences for grades 6-10 that integrate vetted best practices in the field, MathAction thematic units, and blended learning using online adaptive technologies.
