Mission Statement

MFWI's homestay weekend program has been developed by educators who believe in the value of cultural exchange and active participation as a means of deepening students' understanding of American culture, values and diversity.

The mission of MFWI is threefold: to improve students' communicative
competence in English; to facilitate their cultural awareness; and to
enhance their personal and professional development.

Description

Mukogawa Fort Wright Institute (MFWI) is a residential academic
institute established in Spokane, Washington, USA as a branch campus of
Educational Corporation Mukogawa Gakuin ("ECMG"), a Japanese private
non-profit educational corporation for women, in Nishinomiya, Hyogo,
Japan. ECMG sends students to MFWI from Mukogawa Women's University and
Mukogawa Junior College who are majoring primarily in English and in
Education. Students receive credit for courses at MFWI and return to
Japan to complete their undergraduate program at Mukogawa.
