To provide platforms for theatre, dance and other creative expressions from an African American perspective that heighten the social and cultural awareness of its audiences.

Description

The Black Rep is Missouri's only professional black theatre company and the state's largest culturally specific arts organization. In only 39 years The Black Rep has transformed from an ambitious college project that provided acting oppotunities to African American students into one of the nation's leading professional theatre companies. The Black Rep fulfills its mission by Entertaining Diverse Audiences (the Main Stage season, Student Matinees, and The Professional Touring Company). Educating Promising Youth (the Summer Performing Arts Program (SPA)), and Enriching Our Community (the Professional Intern Program).
