Mission Statement

Community Action, Inc, of Central Texas (CAI) has been an established Texas Breast and Cervical Cancer Services (BCCS) Provider since 1996. With funding from the Austin Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure in 2004, CAI has expanded its BCCS program to provide comprehensive patient navigation (screening, diagnostic, financial, treatment and survivorship navigation) to uninsured and underinsured women in Hays, Caldwell, Bastrop and Williamson counties. Since 2013, funding from the McKenna Foundation in New Braunfels has allowed this patient navigation program to expand to the women of Comal County. CAI’s Breast Cancer Navigation Team works hard to increase early detection by providing screening mammograms, access to diagnostics for breast problems, access to funding for treatment if a woman is diagnosed with breast cancer, and uses client centered navigation to insure that a diagnosed woman completes recommended treatment plans.

Description

Our Breast and Cervical Cancer Screening Services program provides screening mammograms for women 50-65 and colposcopy services for women with abnormal Pap Smears. Through funding by the Austin Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the cure, breast cancer education and outreach, breast cancer screening, diagnosis, treatment, and support services are provided to women of all ages in Hay, Caldwell and Williamson Counties.

We are seeking volunteers to help with fundraising, event planning, transportation, and interpretation.
