Description
The Foster Grandparent Program is a federally funded national program for seniors with limited income. Foster Grandparents aged 60 and over give their experience and their talent to improve the lives of children in their communities. They help children develop the skills, confidence and strength to succeed in life. A Grandparent may volunteer 4 hours per day, 5 days per week or as many as 8 hours per day, 5 days per week. Foster Grandparents will receive a tax free federal stipend of $2.65 per hour. The stipend does not affect any assistance being received. Foster Grandparents earn a vacation and sick day each month, a free meal at their volunteer site, as well as a free physical each year. The program also assists with transportation to and from the volunteer site.
This program is a very social program and a group of seniors with a goal in mind - helping children succeed. Make new friends!!!
We have several recognition parties during the year and take road trips once in awhile as well.
Come join us - get out of your chair and share your love and wisdom with a child who needs you. Feel the joy of knowing you're making a difference in the life a child.
There's a child waiting right now for a Foster Grandparent!!
