Mission Statement

Theatre Baton Rouge’s Mission is to provide the residents of the Greater Baton Rouge Area the opportunity to participate in quality live theatre as an audience member, actor or production worker. Recognizing theatre as a living reflection of the human imagination and experience, TBR serves as the region’s pivotal theatre arts organization providing ongoing cultural, educational and social enrichment.

Description

Established in 1946, the award-winning Theatre Baton Rouge (TBR) is one of the oldest and largest community theatres in the nation. TBR offers more than 150 theatrical performances, workshops, classes and special events each year. TBR’s audience is truly a regional one. Over 30,000 people attend TBR each season from the eleven-parish Capital Area as well as the larger south Louisiana/southern Mississippi region. Committed to bringing the best in live theater to the Greater Baton Rouge Area, Theatre Baton Rouge offers the community the opportunity to participate in the theatrical process - theatre for the community, by the community.

TBR engages the community through broad-based outreach activities including post-performance discussions and ASL interpreted performances for the hearing impaired. In recent years, TBR has partnered with Youth ALIVE, City at Peace, Girl Scouts of America and Big Buddy to bring theatre to a new generation and community.
