Most people are unaware that Congenital Heart Defects (CHDs) are the most common birth defect in America. Approximately one in one hundred, or 40,000 newborns, are born with a CHD each year. CHDs are the most common cause of infant death related to birth defects. However, because of advancements made through research, death rates from CHDs in the U.S. have declined by 37.5%. It's our goal to see that number increase, and to continue to see babies born with CHDs survive to adulthood. All of which is only possible through research.

The Children's Heart Foundation (CHF)'s mission is to fund the most promising research to advance the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of congenital heart defects. Since 1996 CHF has independently funded nearly 100 research projects totaling $10.6 million.
