Mission Statement

Metro Atlanta Chess Partners, Inc. (MACP) is a 501 (c) (3) charitable and community outreach organization structured to teach inner-city youth the game of chess and encourage them to compete in chess tournaments.

Description

Metro Atlanta Chess Partners, Inc. provides chess lessons at no cost to inner-city youth, in low and no income families and communities. We are able to offer cost free services to inner-city youth through the generous financial and in-kind support of donors, grantors, volunteers and interns. We also offer fee-based chess lessons to individuals and various groups; as well as host chess tournaments throughout the year. Our vision is to inspire inner-city youth, through the game of chess, to gain clarity in decision-making and critical thinking skills, and to foster improved behavior and social skills. We aim to capture the interest of inner-city youth, teach them the game of chess, and ensure that they are given the opportunity to compete in national chess tournaments.

What a great thing this organization is doing. They supplement their operational costs by servicing after school or other fee based programs so that they can teach, free of charge, low income and hard case kids the game of chess. The amazing thing is that these young people, from K-12, become interested in the game, and playing the game has a positive affect on their dispositions. It is nice to witness! The chess coach, Thomas Clem, engages these young people and they like him.
