Mission Statement
GEMS's vision is to guide, empower, and support our students through mentoring. GEMS offer undergraduate students at Metropolitan State University a chance to develop a close, positive relationship with a mentor. Students team up with a mentor based on their major, interest and an interview with a GEMS staff member. GEMS along with mentors will strengthen students' communication, leadership, job and life skills, and foster self-confidence and self-esteem. GEMS mentors will empower students in their career interest, personal development and aid them in acquiring life skills.
Description
The two types of mentoring offered in this program are traditional mentoring and peer mentoring. Traditional mentoring pairs the student with a Metropolitan State University staff, faculty, graduate, or community volunteer mentor. Peer mentoring pairs the student with a junior or senior at Metropolitan State University.
