Description

Imagine Dallas is an Irving-based nonprofit corporation publishing literary writing and providing free educational poetry programs to students and the general public in Dallas County. Publications will be distributed in centers of living local culture, and programs will partner with libraries and schools. Imagine Dallas also supports a distributed network of poets inviting communities to engage the living lyric tradition.

A recent Census report indicates that less than half of Americans voluntarily read even one work of literature in a 12-month period. Less than 7% of Americans said that they had voluntarily read any poetry during that period, a significant decline from the 17% reported in 1992. Imagine Dallas will work to reverse this trend in the Dallas area.
