Mission Statement

Chaired by the Mayor of Tel Aviv-Yafo, the Tel Aviv-Yafo Foundation partners with donors around the world to meet the evolving needs of the City of Tel Aviv. With the establishment of social service, educational, cultural and environmental projects, the Foundation cares for the needy, assists minority populations, encourages the talented and enriches the quality of life for Tel Avivians and all Israelis. By matching contributions dollar-for-dollar and by allowing donors to designate their funds, the Foundation ensures accountability, promotes collaboration between donor and recipient, and strengthens the bond between the Diaspora and Israel.

Description

The Tel Aviv-Yafo Foundation was founded in 1977 and has established more than 400 projects to date, raising over $400 million worldwide. The Foundation works in partnership with the Municipality of Tel Aviv-Yafo which sets the priority projects through Mayor Ron Huldai and the City Council who provide matching funds (usually dollar-for-dollar) for nearly every project.

The uniqueness of the Foundation is that it has no endowment and operates through direct giving only, meaning all the funding secured is not placed into a "vacuum", but rather is designated to specific projects.
