Mission Statement

"To provide exceptional patient care services while minimizing overall health care costs relating to poison exposures through epidemiologic surveillance, preventive educational programs, and consultative services to the community and health care professionals."

Description

The Florida Poison Information Center Miami operates the Poison Control Hotline for 5 million South Florida residents. As part of our work, the FPIC Miami also educates the public about poison risks such as medication and household product mistakes, snake and spiders, pesticides and other hazardous substances in our homes and environment. We also promote the free 24/7 service offered through the Poison Control Hotline 1-800-222-1222 in case of a poison emergency. Priority outreach groups include new parents, children, and senior citizens as well as residents of high-risk zip codes. We attend health fairs and community events and provide trainings to health care providers and outreach staff.
