Mission Statement

To promote the independence of residents north of the river by providing a hand up through education and assistance.

Description

Through three main programs (Education, Direct Assistance, Thrift Stores) the Northside Neighborhood House connects to people in our community in efforts to provide a hand up during a time of crisis and to develop healthy and stable families. The NNH has two office locations: North Chattanooga and Soddy Daisy, TN. Two thrift stores (209 Minor Street and 3605 Dayton Blvd) provided affordable and quality items to community memebers while contributing to the support of the NNH's mission. Education programs include after school tutoring for K-12 grade along with Adult GED prep. Direct Assistance programs include an annual School Supply Distribution, Christmas Toy and Food Distributions, utility assistance, prescription medication assistance, budget and work readiness counseling, and referrals. The Healthy Families Program, a sub component of the Direct Assistance program, provides cooking and computer classes as well as Family Dinner Night program that connects parents to different community resources.
