Description

Furnishing Dignity, an Arizona non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization, collects and redistributes donated household furnishings (new and or gently used) to low-income people in need. Our clients are recovering from crises such as homelessness, domestic violence, disability, natural disaster or other traumatic events and are making their way to self-sufficiency. Furnishing Dignity provides a variety of household items, depending on the needs of the client. The most requested items are beds for children who have been sleeping on the floor with little more than a blanket, as well as pots and pans to cook a nutritious meal at home. For a variety of reasons, many lower-income families and individuals have a place to live but need help with their furnishings. We work to cover that gap, with the help of volunteers and donors.

I was able to directly affect the lives of people in my own community. I loved that we got to meet the family and help them set up their home with furnishings and then continue to support them over the holidays. Furnishing Dignity provides them the furnishing and we provided the muscle to set up everything and give hope and comfort to the family. This organization is where I will continue to provide support as you don't just hand over money, you give your time and energy with boots on the ground to help a family make their house a home. Loved seeing their faces when the home was all set up.
